Ring in the New Year at Vermont’s Lake Morey Resort

After the hectic pace of the holiday season, now its your time to have some fun! This New Year’s Eve Getaway is loaded with elements of fun, nostalgia, culinary delights and a sip or two of the “bubbley!” Come and Celebrate!

Day One:

Arrive at your resort hotel mid afternoon.The resort is nestled in the Vermont hills above the Connecticut River, where the natural beauty immediately draws you in. This 100 year-old resort offers an exceedingly high level of hospitality and will make you glad to have chosen the Lake Morey Resort as the place to ring in the New Year.

Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a welcome reception and orientation to the resort. If you wish to stretch your legs, step outside for a brisk walk on the nature trails and watch the brilliant red cardinals as they dart in and out of the evergreen trees. Enjoy a swim in the indoor pool, relax in the steaming saunas, meet your friends in the billards room or sip a warm beverage in the lounge.

Dinner is served in the Main Dining Room that affords breathtaking views of the surroundings. The Executive Chef prides himself in using the freshest, local ingredients as he prepares his creative new American cuisine.

After dinner you may visit the Steamboat Lounge for a nightcap and light entertainment.

Day Two:

Sleigh Ride 3Start your day with a relaxing buffet breakfast served at the resort. The morning is yours to relax, go for a sleigh ride, cross-country ski, snowshoe or ice skate. Sleigh rides are included in your package.

Late morning, board the coach and travel a short distance to King Arthur Flour, America’s oldest flour company, founded in Boston in 1790. More than 220 years later, the company is the nation’s premier baking resource. Your visit at the flagship campus features the new retail store and an opportunity to watch the bakers at work in the state-of-the art bakery. The store offers thousands of ingredients, tools and pans. Have lunch on your own at the Bakery Café, or indulge in a fresh-baked pastry or warm slice of brick-oven bread.

From King Arthur Flour, travel to the renowned Farmway Store. Family owned and operated since 1983, the store is located in a mill, not a mall, with over 16 acres of land to explore. Feast your eyes on over 4 million dollars in inventory including top-name brands of of footwear, clothing, gear, sporting goods and house wares. Here you may purchase a shovel, frying pan or an entire outfit! The selections will amaze you!

Travel back to the Resort for time to relax, refresh and change into your “party clothes” for tonight’s grand celebration.

Kick off the evening with cocktail party featuring a grand hors d’oeuvre display and cash bar. A lavish dinner buffet follows.

Champagne Toast 3Then get ready to kick up your heels and don your party hats, as a 7-piece band tunes up to dance you into the New Year. Toast the New Year with a complimentary glass of champagne. A midnight snack buffet follows the traditional singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”

After all of the fun and celebration, it’s time to call it a day-----Happy New Year!

Day Three:

After all of the late-night revelries, you deserve a relaxing start to the New Year. For early risers, there is coffee and pastry service in the lobby. Then, from 9:00 am until 12:00 noon, feast on a grand brunch buffet that includes all of your favorites and more!

King Arthur 3Late morning, board the coach and travel to Billings Farm and Museum. Learn how Laurance S. Rockefeller’s legacy is reflected in Woodstock and its environs. Explore one of the finest operating dairy farms in America and a museum of Vermont's rural past – your gateway to Vermont's rural heritage. Learn how the holiday season was celebrated in late 19th century Woodstock in the farmhouse and linger in the cozy kitchen as treats are baked in the woodstove. Your visit includes a hands-on experience like candle-dipping or making a pomander ball.

On your way back to the resort, stop at Quechee Gorge, Vermont’s “little grand canyon.” There will be time to disembark the coach for a photo op.

Once back at the resort, there will be time to relax and refresh. Early evening, a casual Soup, Salad and Sandwich Buffet will be served in the Lounge. Football fans won’t have to miss a minute of the game while having dinner. Non-football fans may watch a classic movie shown in the resort’s own theater.

Day Four:

A hearty, farewell breakfast buffet prepares you for the trip home. After breakfast there will be time to take some photos before you pack your luggage and check out of the resort. Depart mid morning.
