The lights are up, the tree is decorated, packages are tied with ribbon and Santa is checking his list. The stage is set for Christmas at the Indian Head Resort and you are invited to a celebration certain to bring back memories and to create new ones. With cookie decorating, wreath making, a train ride and an opportunity to give back, this holiday package is tied up “with your favorite things.” And, to put the frosting on the festivities, there’s entertainment galore! No, you won’t find Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye or Rosemary Clooney, but you will find the likes of Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Michael Buble, Patsy Cline, Brenda Lee and Connie Francis, at nightly holiday shows presented at the resort. Come along and celebrate the very best that the holiday season has to offer.

Day One:

Arrive at the resort early afternoon. The minute you walk through the doors, you’ll know that that Santa’s elves have been busy, for every hall and every wall have been decorated to the likes of a winter wonderland. After all, this resort has been awarded for having one of the best holiday displays in New England!

After you have settled in, gather around for a cookie decorating class led by the resort’s christmas-cookies-553457_640culinary staff. Learn some new techniques and share your own styles as well. This event is extra “sweet,” as when you have finished sprinkling the last sprinkle, your cookies will be delivered to the local “Meals on Wheels” service, certain to bring smiles to those who need some holiday cheer.

By this time you’ll be ready to sit back and have some holiday cheer for yourself! A beer and wine reception is certain to put you in a festive spirit.

Arrive in the resort’s dining room for an included dinner that offers choice-of-menu, plated service. The delicious cuisine will amaze you, as the dining room has won awards for the best overall restaurant in the area’s “Best of Chefs’ Competition.”

After dinner, it’s time for the evening performance by Don Who and Cil Bee. Sing along and dance along to holiday tunes of yesterday and today, during this evening of Christmas entertainment.

Day Two:

After a hearty breakfast at the resort, it’s time to head out over the river and through the woods. Arrive in North Conway and board the Holiday Express Train for an old-fashioned railroad experience. The vintage passenger cars will take you past fields that appear frosted in marshmallow cream, quintessential New England farmhouses decorated with greenery, crystal-like ice formations along the river and shining diamonds formed by the snow-cover on towering evergreens. You may even see the footprints of a reindeer or two! Sip on warm cider and freshly-baked donuts during your excursion.

Arrive back in North Conway and enjoy time on your own for some holiday shopping in the array of outlet stores. Take advantage of the tax-free shopping and discounted prices. Have lunch on your own at one of the many eateries located within walking distance of the stores.

Depart North Conway and travel a short distance to Bretton Woods. The minute you mtwash-omni-mount-washington-resort-winter-exteriorturn into the driveway, the grand Omni Mount Washington will capture your attention with its grandeur and holiday décor. A grand masterpiece of Spanish Renaissance architecture, the resort was a two-year labor of love for 250 master craftsmen. Conceived by industrialist, Joseph Stickney, this National Historic Landmark opened in 1902 and has been attracting generations of families ever since. The most luxurious hotel of its day, The Mount Washington, catered to wealthy guests from Boston, New York and Philadelphia. As many as 50 trains a day stopped at Bretton Woods' three railroad stations. Your visit includes a guided historic tour, a traditional “Tea” served with sweet and savory treats and a keepsake guidebook.

Your next stop is in Bethlehem! Located on Christmas Lane, The Rocks Estate has been described as a snowy-treespresent day “Norman Rockwell” experience. You will witness gorgeous views, acres of beautiful trees, picturesque old buildings and stone walls. The estate is the North Country Conservation and Education Center for the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests. Known as a popular Christmas tree farm, the 1,400-acre property offers much more. Your visit includes a Wreath-Making Workshop where you will learn how to “weave” pine boughs into beautiful wreaths and to adorn them with your favorite accents. When you have finished, your wreath will be boxed for you to take home and show off your talents!

After this very busy day, you’ll feel like one of Santa’s elves! Head back to the resort for time to relax, put your feet up, sit by the fire and enjoy a wine and beer reception.

After a delicious dinner served in the resort’s dining room, gather for another evening of holiday entertainment performed by Don Who and Cil Bee. After the show, there will be time for photos with your co-travelers and the entertainers.

Day Three:

Wake up!!! It’s time for presents by the tree! In keeping with tradition, wear your present-932219_640nighties, pj’s, or onesies and bring your special present for a Yankee Swap Gift Exchange. Whether you “unwrap it” or “swap it”, you’re certain to be surprised!

After your farewell breakfast, pack your luggage and check out of the resort. As you make your way out of town, you simply must stop at Clark’s Gift Shop that claims to be the largest and most well-stocked gift and souvenir shop in the White Mountains. Here you will find gifts galore and some treats for yourself.

After your visit to Clark’s, jingle your bells all the way home!
